Seventeen-year-old Twylla lives in the castle. But although she’s engaged to the prince, Twylla isn’t exactly a member of the court.

She’s the executioner.

As the Goddess embodied, Twylla instantly kills anyone she touches. Each month she’s taken to the prison and forced to lay her hands on those accused of treason. No one will ever love a girl with murder in her veins. Even the prince, whose royal blood supposedly makes him immune to Twylla’s fatal touch, avoids her company.

But then a new guard arrives, a boy whose easy smile belies his deadly swordsmanship. And unlike the others, he’s able to look past Twylla’s executioner robes and see the girl, not the Goddess. Yet Twylla’s been promised to the prince, and knows what happens to people who cross the queen.

However, a treasonous secret is the least of Twylla’s problems. The queen has a plan to destroy her enemies, a plan that requires a stomach-churning, unthinkable sacrifice. Will Twylla do what it takes to protect her kingdom? Or will she abandon her duty in favor of a doomed love?

When Nic, a slave in the mines outside of Rome, is forced to enter a sealed cavern containing the lost treasures of Julius Caesar, he finds much more than gold and gemstones: He discovers an ancient bulla, an amulet that belonged to the great Caesar and is filled with a magic once reserved for the Gods -- magic some Romans would kill for.

Now, with the deadly power of the bulla pulsing through his veins, Nic is determined to become free. But instead, he finds himself at the center of a ruthless conspiracy to overthrow the emperor and spark the Praetor War, a battle to destroy Rome from within. Traitors and spies lurk at every turn, each more desperate than the next to use Nic's newfound powers for their own dark purposes.

In a quest to stop the rebellion, save Rome, and secure his own freedom, Nic must harness the magic within himself and defeat the empire's most powerful and savage leaders.

Introducing... #15DaysofLying!

For fans of E. Lockhart and her brilliant novel We Were Liars... Pinoy Book Tours would like to invite you all to join an event we'd like to call:

"15 Days of Lying"

We'd like to do something leading up to E. Lockhart's signing here. What is it, you ask?

We ask you to... LIE.

Yes, lie.

If you've read We Were Liars, or just by simply checking the summary of the book, you know that lies are involved in the novel one way or another. (We can't say anything else because it'll spoil you!) Are you intrigued? Here's what you need to do to participate:

  1. Lie. Grab a pen and a piece of paper and write a lie. Create graphics containing a lie. It can be a lie about anything. Say you hate books, you hate your favorite show, you hate doing things you love, you hate eating your favorite food. Anything!
  2. Post it in your social media accounts: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram! On twitter, please tag us  @pinoybooktours because we will be retweeting all lies for the next 15 days.
  3. Don't forget to use the hashtag #15DaysofLying
  4. The event will be from March 7th to March 21st, the day before E. Lockhart's Manila signing.

There will be bloggers who will be posting lies on designated dates, so if you want to check them out, we will be posting a list soon!

Will there be prizes? Yes, there will be. We will be picking the best lie the day before E. Lockhart's signing and two lucky people will win:

- A Signed We Were Liars shirt (that will more or less look like this)
- A Signed copy of We Were Liars

Let us know if you'd like to participate by tweeting us over at @pinoybooktours or you can drop us an e-mail, or you can just post on any day of March BEFORE E. Lockhart's scheduled signing using the hashtag #15DaysofLying. It's important to use the hashtag as we will be tracking all entries using that, and we don't want to miss out on your post!

While backpacking through Florence, Italy, during the summer before she heads off to college, Lucy Sommersworth finds herself falling in love with the culture, the architecture, the food...and Jesse Palladino, a handsome street musician. After a whirlwind romance, Lucy returns home, determined to move on from her "vacation flirtation." But just because summer is over doesn't mean Lucy and Jesse are over, too.

In this coming-of-age romance, April Lindner perfectly captures the highs and lows of a summer love that might just be meant to last beyond the season.
